Hank Marshall

Hank Marshall is the Senior Vice President of Business Development at the newly established Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA). Guided by exceptional leadership from the Governor’s Office and the ACA Board, the very talented Business Development team has a clarity of purpose and a commitment to delivering immediate and sustainable value with a sense of urgency that our clients expect and deserve. We intend to accomplish this by aligning our sectoral focus of Aerospace/Defense, Science and Technology, Renewable/Clean Energy and Small Business/Entrepreneurs with our key service deliverables of Business Retention and Expansion, Innovation, Small Business, Work Force Development, Job Training and Apprenticeship.
Until recently, Hank Marshall served as Chief Enabling Officer for Aisle21, a Phoenix-based consultancy specializing in international business strategies. As a widely recognized authority on international business development, he was able to provide a portfolio of unique services to multi-national corporate clients.
Prior to establishing Aisle21 in 2005, Mr. Marshall spent 20 years mastering the skill and art of business development working in executive level positions in both the private and public sector. He has worked for many major companies such as Halston, Tetley, Johnson & Johnson, Avery International, Warner Lambert, Pfizer and Allied Lyons.
Having been raised in foreign countries (Venezuela, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands) and having traveled extensively to many other foreign countries, Mr. Marshall has developed a very keen sense of the challenges and intricacies of doing business internationally.
His skills and experience were vital to the contributions that he made while working for corporations operating internationally in the pharmaceutical, personal health care, food & beverage and confectionery industries. The majority of his efforts involved strategic rationalization for international business development projects. The scope of the various projects involved such things as joint ventures, in-country partnerships, technology licensing, acquisition, expansion, consolidation and new market entry. Over the years, Mr. Marshall won coveted corporate awards as well as awards from industry and associations for outstanding performance and contributions.
Mr. Marshall also spent 6 years as the Vice-Consul of Trade for the British Consulate in Phoenix, Arizona. His main role at the Consulate was to provide comprehensive business development services to British exporters looking at or participating in the US market. In November 2004, Mr. Marshall was invited to London to be given the award for Top Performance in the US by Sir Stephen Brown, Chairman of UKTI. Mr. Marshall won the same award on two prior occasions, 2000 and 2001. At the request of the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO), Mr. Marshall traveled to FCO offices in several nations with emerging economies to instruct staff on trade and foreign direct investment. In 2005, Mr. Marshall was appointed the British Honorary Consul for the State of Arizona, where he continues to serve the needs of British nationals and British companies.
Mr. Marshall is a member of many professional associations, is a board member of numerous companies, a guest lecturer in the US and the UK, a frequent contributor to academic institutions and active in business mentoring.
Mr. Marshall also continues to serve the international community as the appointed and acting British Honorary Consul for the State of Arizona.
