Janet Evans
-
Known as the "best female distance swimmer in history," Janet Evans acquired her gold medals in the 800-meter freestyle at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and in the 400 and 800-meter freestyle and 400- meter individual medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She is also a holder of a silver medal in the 400-meter freestyle, obtained at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She has also won 45 U.S. national titles and is the only female swimmer to hold three world records concurrently in the 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle and 1500-meter freestyle. On the American level, Janet holds six records for the 400, 500, 1000, 1500 and 1650-meter freestyle. Janet was also selected as the final Olympic torch runner at the 1996 Olympic Games in Olympic Stadium, Atlanta. Other highlights of Janet's career include her membership on the U.S. Olympic Swim Team in 1988, 1992 and 1996; her 1989 Sullivan Award for the top U.S. amateur athlete; the award she received as 1989 Sportswoman of the Year by the U.S. Olympic Committee; her selection as American Swimmer of the Year in 1991, 1990, 1989, 1987, and her ranking as World Swimmer of the year from 1987-1990 by Swimming World Magazine. Janet made her presence felt in and out of the pool. Her career as a motivational speaker started at the ripe old age of 16 and now in her early 30s, Janet is one of the most requested keynotes in the country. Janet presents over 20 motivational speeches each year for top companies in varying fields including technology, healthcare, real estate, telecommunications, apparel, banking, insurance, trade associations, packaged goods and non-profits. Janet's easy style and grace on a podium has helped veteran salesmen and senior executives alike! Janet also performs extensive charity work with the Children's Hospital of Orange County, California and hosts the annual Janet Evans Invitational.
