Mark May
-
Mark May:
An All-American as an offensive tackle at the University of Pittsburgh in 1980, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound May won the Outland Trophy as the outstanding college lineman of the year. He was chosen by the Washington Redskins in the first round of the 1981 NFL draft, the twentieth pick overall.
May was a starter on the Redskin teams that won Super Bowls after the 1982 and 1987 seasons and he was named to the Pro Bowl team after the 1988 season. However, he missed the second half of 1989 and all of the 1990 season with a knee injury. The San Diego Chargers signed him as a free agent in 1991 and he went to the Phoenix Cardinals in 1992.
He retired after the 1993 season and went into broadcasting with Turner Sports, first as a studio analyst and then as a game analyst. He has also worked on radio broadcasts of University of Pittsburgh football games.
