Rece Davis
-
Rece Davis joined ESPN in March 1995 as an ESPN2 SportSmash anchor, providing five-minute news and score reports throughout the network’s nightly programming. He currently serves as studio host for ESPN and ESPN2’s coverage of college football and college basketball, including his duties as anchor and host of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship and the college basketball version of the weekly College GameDay. He has served as host of ESPN and ESPN2’s College Gameday Final since August 1999 and College Gamenight – ESPN’s daily college basketball news and highlights program – Baseball Tonight and anchors ESPN’s SportsCenter.
Previously, Davis hosted ESPN2’s weekend RPM 2Night and Sunday morning RPM 2Day programs (1997-1999), and ESPN2’s NBA 2Night, the network’s daily NBA highlights/news program (1996-97).
Additionally, Davis has delivered “Extra Point” commentaries on ESPN Radio and has frequently served as guest host for the Dan Patrick Show.
Before joining ESPN, Davis worked at WJRT-TV in Flint, Mich., as a sports anchor/reporter (1993-95). Prior to working at WJRT-TV, he was a sports anchor and sports director at WRBL-TV in Columbus, Ga. (1988-93) and a general assignment reporter for WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Ala. (1987-88). He also worked as a freelance television play-by-play announcer, studio host and radio announcer in select media outlets in Alabama (1983-93).
Davis, a native of Muscle Shoals, Ala., was graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama in 1988 with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast news and public affairs. Davis was named the University of Alabama School of Communication Broadcast Department’s outstanding alumnus for 2001. Born December 14, 1965, he is married and has a son and daughter.
